News Release - USDA and Colorado Department of Education recognize local sponsor efforts in success of summer meals program
On Tuesday, July 30, USDA Food and Nutrition Service Chief Policy Advisor Alberto Gonzalez, representatives from the Colorado Department of Education, and Colorado Rural Development will visit a Summer Nutrition Meals (SUN) Programs site in Loveland operated by the Food Bank for Larimer County to recognize the success of summer meals programs.

News Release -- CDE opens applications for up to $10,000 for aspiring educators
The Colorado Department of Education invites aspiring educators to apply for up to $10,000 in financial assistance for educator preparation program fees. The Educator Recruitment and Retention program provides direct support for qualified individuals interested in teaching in a shortage area and who can commit to working in that area for three years.

DENVER -- The Colorado Department of Education today released its 2024-25 school year policy that determines student eligibility for free and reduced-price school meals provided through the National School Lunch Program, School Breakfast Program, and/or the Special Milk Program.

The State Board of Education met on Wednesday and Thursday in Glenwood Springs and voted on several matters, including awarding $183 million in BEST grants as well as approving accountability pathways for schools in Aurora.

News Release -- CDE awards $3 million in grant funding to support out-of-school-time learning for Colorado K-12 students
The Colorado Department of Education is supporting school districts and community organizations to expand out-of-school-time learning opportunities for students at 24 sites across Colorado. The department awarded $3 million in grant funding from the federal Nita M. Lowey 21st Century Community Learning Centers grant to support academic enrichment opportunities with a focus on serving economically disadvantaged students.

News Release -- TLCC survey results show positive perceptions of educator working conditions, need for support with student wellness
The Colorado Department of Education has released the results of the 2024 Teaching and Learning Conditions Colorado Survey (TLCC). Responses from nearly 46,000 survey participants show that educators feel positive about their working conditions, but that they need more time to prepare for classes and more support with serving special populations and meeting the social and emotional needs of their students.
