Learner Objectives

Participants will be able to:

  • Understand the culture of autism
  • Understand the importance of individualized support
  • Understand the concept of visually based support
  • Understand the major components of Structured Teaching: physical organization and visual boundaries, schedules, work systems, routines, and task organization

 

Study Questions

  1. Why are routines important for individuals with ASD?
  2. Consider a routine that a student would encounter in a school setting.  Write a task analysis for the steps required to perform the routine, including independent initiation and task completion.
