Before delving into the lesson, let’s warm up the student’s brains.

Why are students doing this/what are they getting out of it?
Students can compare their strategy to two correctly worked examples. The worked examples may have more steps/information than students used. Noticing the similarities and differences may help students find and correct their own mistakes. It can also help students hone in on patterns. The models used in the worked examples can help students think about a proportional relationship as a collection of equivalent fractions.

The purpose of this activity is to review the definition of proportional relationships, notice and wonder about patterns in tables and graphs of proportional relationships, and determine if given tables and graphs represent proportional relationships.
