Who should attend PEP?

These guidelines refer to the in-person PEP conferences, not the virtual PEP Academy conferences that are offered periodically online.

Eligibility:

• ​Any Colorado parent* who has a child(ren) with a disability(ies) ages birth to 21 who has not attended a PEP conference within the last five years.
  • A *parent includes parent couples, single parents, legal guardians, adoptive, and foster parents who have not attended a Colorado PEP conference within the last five years.
  • A parent attending alone may be accompanied by a support person who also attends.
  • A support person is an adult and may include a grandparent, or other adult relative, who supports the parent raising a child with a disability and/or who is caretaker to the child with a disability, aged birth to 21, in the family.
• Colorado school administrators, principals, teachers, medical or other service providers who are interested in the family-professional partnership, and who have not attended a PEP conference within the last five years.
• If you attended an in-person PEP conference within the last five years, you are not eligible to attend again until five years pass. The information offered at PEP conferences is based on state and federal laws that do not change in five years. This rule will also give those who've never attended an opportunity to attend and participate in a PEP conference.

Children at In-person PEP

• You can bring your child(ren) to the hotel where PEP is being held to share your room, be on the hotel grounds, and enjoy the amenities. You must bring a responsible family member or an adult caregiver to watch your child(ren), who may also stay in your room.
• Some hotels may charge for extra people staying in a room. If that is the case, then the participant would be responsible for making arrangements and paying for any extra charges.
• No childcare is provided.
• At no time will children be permitted to enter the PEP conference sessions, the PEP dining areas, or the PEP small group conference rooms.
• No meals will be provided to children or anyone who is not a confirmed participant at the conference.
