Regulations for the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA)
The United States Department of Education (USDOE) proposed regulations on Accountability, Consolidated State Plans, Academic Assessments, Title I Supplement, Not Supplant, and Data Reporting provisions under the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA). In addition, the USDOE proposed revisions for the EDFacts Data Collection for school years 2016-2017, 2017-2018, and 2018-2019, in order to support ESSA.
On Monday, January 30, 2017, the U.S. Department of Education published a notice in the Federal Register delaying the effective date of Accountability and State Plan regulations until March 21, 2017. On February 7, the House of Representatives voted to do away with the Obama Administration’s proposed rules regarding ESSA accountability, reporting, and state plans.
