CDE and the Colorado Commission of Indian Affairs partnered to bring representatives from the National Indian Education Association to deliver an Indigenous Empowerment and Resilience Training. This unique training is a participatory history lesson developed in collaboration with Indigenous Elders, knowledge keepers and educators that foster truth, understanding, respect and reconciliation among Indigenous and non-Indigenous Peoples. This training is also known as the Blanket Exercise to support educators statewide with a deeper understanding of how historical trauma impacts the Indigenous families and students we serve today. The training was hosted by Fountain Ft. Carson School District 8.
