Boulder Journey School Teacher Education Program


Graduate with a Masters Degree in: Learning, Developmental, and Family Sciences, with an Emphasis in Early Childhood Education and a Colorado Teaching License
 
This program weaves together several components over the course of 12 months:
 
Practicum
Resident Teachers participate in a paid, mentored practicum. Throughout the year, Resident Teachers team teach alongside a mentor teacher, attend regular meetings with their assigned mentor, and participate in school events.

Additional Teacher Education Program Components
Resident Teachers participate in a variety of professional development opportunities during the year. For example, a field trip relevant to a course, an in-service or workshop focusing on a progressive topic in education, a professional resource night, conference, etc.
 
Reggio Emilia Study Group
During Spring Break, Resident Teachers travel to Reggio Emilia, Italy to attend The Reggio Emilia Study Group. This study group consists of presentations, school tours, and networking opportunities. Study Group expenses (flights, hotel, shuttle between the airport and hotel in Italy, and a food stipend) are included in tuition for the Boulder Journey School Teacher Education Program.
 
Culminating Assessment
At the end of the school year, Teacher Candidates spend an evening sharing their thinking on personal, professional, and political issues and innovations in the field of education. The evening is a valued tradition, celebrating the Teacher Candidates as they complete the program. Each year is full of promise, as Teacher Candidates share their findings, reflections, and suggestions that will help shape the future of education with instructors, friends, colleagues, and family members.
